That's My Girl

Katie has officially "graduated" from preschool. Her preschool center hosted an end of year celebration on Thursday. She is registered for Kindergarten and will be attending Cottonwood in the fall. (Sigh...)

I Must Be a Slacker

It's been a tough week. I feel like despite my commitment to this month's blogging marathon, I am falling behind. This week there just aren't enough hours in a day. I wake up in the morning with every intention of posting pictures and stories of my precious little ones. Then before I know it, the clock is glaring at me telling me it is way past my bedtime. I admit defeat, put my blog ideas on hold, and throw together something so that I don't miss a day. My best intentions become dreams for tomorrow as I lay my head on my pillow.

As I type this with my oh-so tired fingers I must admit defeat. This post is all I can muster up tonight. I must be a slacker! :) There's always tomorrow...

Tonight I Bake

As I sit down to write my blog tonight, I find myself wishing (once again) that I had planned ahead. Tonight was Katie's year-end celebration. I rushed home from work to give the kids a bath, start a load of laundry, and get homework done. We had to be back at Cottonwood by 6:00 for Katie's performance.

Fast forward to 7:15...we rush home from Katie's performance to eat a quick dinner and then it is bedtime for the boys. After inhaling my own food, I started the process of baking cupcakes for Mary's "Surprise" Baby Shower tomorrow. I can't wait to watch her kiddos play baby diapering games tomorrow! What fun!!!

I can't blog and bake, so tonight I bake! I'm hoping my cupcakes look something like this! :)

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Tonight I was hanging out with the girls (Apryl, Yvonne, and Diana) writing our new EEP for the upcoming school year. Out of the blue, Diana says to me:

"Oh my gosh Jen. The ballet picture of Katie looks just like you in your wedding photo!"

MADE MY NIGHT!!! I don't hear these words very often. My children definitely take after the Lofgren side of the family. But I love it when I do hear someone say that...I like to think that at least one of my children looks a little like me! :) You be the judge...

Rolling with the caption theme I started last Monday, tonight is Katie's night. Here are just a few pictures of Katie from the last few months. (I did throw in one old one, but it is one of my absolute favorites of her.) I loved everyone's captions last week and can't wait to read this weeks! Caption just one or caption them all. I must admit it is more fun when you caption them all!!! :)

Katerina Ballerina

Katie will be dancing in her very first "BIG" ballet recital on May 28th. She is so excited about dancing in her costume and putting on big girl make-up! Today, we had dress rehearsal pictures. Being new to this process, I was unsure of exactly how much product to use on her hair and face. (I did a test run on her hair before ballet class on Saturday and was told to use ALOT more hair product.)

Katie woke up in a fantastic mood and was ready to start primping! :) She took a quick bath and then we began the process of styling her hair. She sat patiently while I applied globs of gel to her hair and slowly pulled it into a pony on the crown of her head. (This literally took me about 30 minutes. I am a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to styling her hair.)

Next we put on her tights, minus her undergarments. She was very concerned about not wearing undies, but listened intently while I explained why she wasn't allowed to wear them with her costume. Once I had explained the policies for dress rehearsal/pictures, she told me it was okay and proceded to get dressed.

Finally it was make-up time. I carefully applied her foundation, blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick. Each time I would pull out a new product she would ask me what it was for. Then she sat still while I applied each item. When we were all done, she looked in the mirror and said "It's almost perfect! Except for this..." (She was pointing at a scratch on her cheek that Nini accidentally gave her on Friday night. The foundation did not really hide the scratch.)

Katie loved having her hair and make-up done! She is definately a girly-girl!
